My husband and I are back from our mini-vacation from Monday to Wednesday of this week. We had a marvelous time exploring the west side of Michigan and the town of Ludington on Lake Michigan’s shore.
We walked the 1.8 mile hike on a sandy road to the lighthouse at the Ludington State Park. The pictures below were taken from the shore.
This one was taken while walking back along the beach to the parking lot. The wind was whipping up the waves and they pounded the beach while we walked barefoot through the waves.
The day before we drove up to Manistee from Ludington to a quilt shop I had visited last year. Cherrie Koblinski owns Sunrise Fabrics quilt shop.
She has a marvelous shop downtown in Manistee and while there last year I shared about my upcoming book, Man Cave Quilts, published by Leisure Arts. Cherri was very interested in it since fishing and hunting are big sports in this town along Lake Michigan.
So when the publisher sent me 12 free copies to promote our book I made sure her shop received one. I looked at her quilt book rack and guess what I saw!
Cherri had really appreciated receiving her copy and ordered more for the shop. She’s planning on teaching a class from the book – probably using the fishing quilt. I also found some lovely fat quarters for the pattern I’m working on next!
As you can imagine the trip to Sunrise Fabrics was one of the high points in our vacation this week! You can find Man Cave Quilts on our site by clicking on this link:
We vsited another great quilt shop but I’m saving that for another day.
