Welcome to Cottage Quilt Designs

cala's bouquet resizedI’ll be writing weekly on projects in progress or just quilty talk about what we love-quilts, fabrics, tools and making quilts!

My current project is completing blocks for a wedding quilt for my son and his new bride. They were married the first part of January of this year. The quilt has appliqued blocks of calla lilies, butterflies and leaves with pieced blocks surrounding them. My new daughter loves calla lilies and anything whimsical so that is the goal of my design for the quilt.

I hope to have the top done in the next month and I’ll show you a picture. I’m starting a contest for naming the quilt! Send me your suggestions in the comments for the blog postings. The winner gets a free pattern. I’ll have Tristan and Cala (my son and daughter-in-law) pick the name they like best and it will go on the pattern too. If you can think of a name without seeing the top that would be awesome! I’d love to read your creativity!

Happy quilting,

Rochelle

I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be, for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances.
