Hollyhocks Wall hanging Done!

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Here’s the summer wall hanging made for my daughter!

Hollyhock Quilt Done!

Back on February 13th I showed you the beginning of this wall hanging. Laura is very pleased with it! The size is 31″ x 35″ after quilting. It will look nice in her old farm house.

The pattern, Hollyhocks, is entered in the catalog of Cottage Quilt Designs-thinking there might be more of you who love hollyhocks. Batiks, sky fabric, wood grain fabric and tonals are in the materials list.

Freezer paper basting hand appliqué was used for my technique but the templates are reversed for fusible web for a quicker project. The pattern has design sheets for the wall hanging center. Can you imagine bumble bees or hummingbirds nosing into the flowers?

New Pattern Released Soon

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Here’s a sneak peek of what’s hanging in my design studio! It’s a pattern designed for Kaufman fabrics using their new collection to be released in August-the Chop Chop Artisan Batik fabrics.

New pattern

The size is 50″ square and would be beautiful as a table topper, wall hanging or throw! The pattern is being tested now by two other quilters. The announcement when the pattern and fabric are ready from Kaufman fabrics should be sometime in July or early August.

There are two more color stories from this collection-yellow/brown and aqua/dark blue options. Both as beautiful and shown on the back of the pattern cover. It’s an easy strip-sewn block and large fusible shapes-great for the beginner. The pattern has been set up to clearly give instructions for the raspberry/dark blue fabrics above and the other two color stories. Come back and check for Radiant Butterfly’s debut!

Hugs and Hope is a website that shows you how to actively love sick children. You can find it at:    www.hugsandhope.org

They have pictures on the site of children that could use an ecouraging card. Or you can choose to send a birthday card from the list of birthdays or buy a teddy bear from Hugs and Hope to brighten their day. You can find a number of things to do when you click the title: What I Can Do.

They also have a section on the kids where you can read and see the sick kids or submit a sick child that you know. They currently have children listed from 2000.

Click on the Our Club section and you will find info about them, their mission, current needs, how to help by being a Christmas Elf or Parent’s Pal or many other creative ways to get involved to make a difference in the lives of these precious children and their families.

New YouCanQuiltThis pattern site!

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Here’s a new site just launched this spring that features e-patterns. YCQT ( http://www.youcanquiltthis.com/ ) has 30 catagories of downloadable patterns. You can find patterns for holidays, memory and photo quilts, amish inspired quilts, wool and felt and many more sections.

Lorie Fuller is the organizer and  great to work with. Some of the designers are: M&L Designs, Cherry House Quilts, Green Fairy Quilts and Homeberries-22 designers in all.

The site has photos submitted by the sewers showing off what they made. For quick reference there is a page for what’s new or you can shop by the designer. Check it out! It’s cute and very upbeat!
